OBJECTIVE

My objective is to obtain a full-time professional Reading or Language Arts teaching position in a public school setting whether in Elementary, Middle, or High School. I have a wide range of experiences that will allow me to make a positive contribution to many educational settings. Substitute Teacher, Selah School District, Selah, WA Nov. 2009 – present
Implement lesson plans in a variety of classrooms in all grade levels and a variety of subject areas (see application). Care for immediate safety and related needs of students. Engage students in learning to provide them with meaningful learning experiences. Most frequent subbing was at the Junior High School in Language Arts classrooms. Assisted Reading Specialist with a variety of literacy tests on a trimester basis.


Student Teaching Field Experience, Selah Jr. High School, Selah, WA Aug. – Nov. 2009
Managed and planned for both 9th Grade English and Advanced English. Created and implemented a five-week unit plan on the novel Night by Elie Wiesel including reading and comprehension strategies, used Jane Schaffer Writing Program and daily journal writing activities. Managed classroom, used Skyward Grade Book program, chaperoned ASB school dance, administered literacy assessments, after school tutoring, and first trimester parent conferences.

Worked with kindergarten classroom teacher to plan and implement reading materials and interventions in the classroom. Administered DIBELS and related testing programs, DRA leveled books, and developed one-on-one student-teacher assessment skills. Used Writer’s Workshop and Daily 5 writing programs on a daily basis.

Hire and manage qualified tutors to administer tutoring curriculum to low income families in the community. Support and advise instruction staff regarding student performance and curriculum needs. Make daily school site visits in order to maintain positive relationships with both families and school districts. Monitor student attendance, billing, and student tracking. Compile data for reports.

Lead Office Assistant, Public Safety Dept., Central Washington University,July 2006 – September 2010
Attended to daily office duties including running daily reports in the T2 Flex Database, composing letters and maintaining office records using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Responded to immediate needs of customers including diffusing angry clients in person as well as over the phone, in addition to answering and directing their questions. Trained new employees on a regular basis, made office work schedules, and maintained client confidentiality in a professional manner.

Member Service Representative (Teller), SnoFalls Credit Union,Snoqualmie, WA June 2004 – June 2005
Worked as a team-member at a local Credit Union while attending high school, in addition to managing the Mount Si High School on-campus branch. Followed daily financial transaction procedures including managing three other employees. Maintained confidential records of branch members in a friendly and professional manner. Was required to operate basic fax and copy machine functions in addition to operating and financially balancing the safe, a teller drawer, and drive-up windows. Enjoyed working with the community and meeting people from around Snoqualmie Valley.
